DRUG & ALCOHOL TESTING

Drug & Alcohol Testing

All businesses are unique within the workplace. Every employer should make a careful determination about the drug testing programs that are most beneficial for their workplace. Pre-employment and random drug testing can help to improve employee morale and productivity while decreasing absenteeism, accidents, downtime, turnover, and theft. Keep your business and employees safe.

Non-DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing

Shots & More is committed to providing drug and alcohol testing for employers wanting to keep substance abuse out of their workplace. Our drug testing services are available at our office or as a scheduled visit to your workplace.

Reasons for Drug Testing

  • Pre-employment Test: Pre-employment testing is conducted to prevent the hiring of individuals who illegally use drugs. If you institutionalize drug testing at your workplace, you can then move to test all job candidates. That is, you can make passing a drug test a condition of being hired. If you choose to have a policy of zero tolerance for substance abuse at your workplace, you will find it much easier to dismiss a candidate for employment whom you have yet to hire than an employee who has been on your payroll for any period of time.
  • Random Test: An employer selects, using a truly random selection process, one or more individuals from all the employees included in the employer’s workplace drug testing program. A random selection process precludes an employer from attempting to pre-select a particular employee for a drug test.
  • Reasonable Suspicion/Cause Test: An employee is required to provide a specimen when there is sufficient evidence to indicate that the employee may have used an illicit substance. Typically, the evidence is based on the direct observations made by supervisors or co-workers that an employee has used or possesses illicit substances, exhibits physical symptoms of being under the influence, and has patterns of abnormal or erratic behavior.
  • Post-accident Test: An employee is required to provide a specimen after being involved in an accident or incident on the job. The results of such a test may provide evidence as to the cause of the accident or incident.
  • Return to Duty Test: An employee is required to provide a specimen to ensure that the employee is drug-free before being allowed to return to work.
  • Follow-up Test: An employee is tested at random intervals after returning to work to ensure that the employee remains drug-free.

What are the benefits?

  • Improvements in morale and productivity
  • Decrease in absenteeism, accidents, and turnover rates.
  • Some organizations with drug-free workplace programs qualify for incentives, such as decreased costs for workers’ compensation and other kinds of insurance.
  • Employers with drug testing programs report better health status and decreased use of medical benefits by many employees and family members.

TB SKIN TESTING

TB Skin Testing

There are two tests that can be used to help detect TB infection: a skin test or TB blood test. The Mantoux tuberculin skin test is performed by injecting a small amount of fluid (called tuberculin) into the skin in the lower part of the arm. A person given the tuberculin skin test must return within 48 to 72 hours to have a trained health care worker look for a reaction on the arm. The TB blood tests measure how the patient’s immune system reacts to the germs that cause TB.

What Is Tuberculosis?

Tuberculosis, commonly known as TB, is a bacterial infection caused by germs that are spread from person to person through the air. It is most often found in the lungs. It can also affect other parts of the body, such as the brain, the kidneys, or the spine. The general symptoms of TB includes feelings of sickness or weakness, weight loss, fever, and night sweats. The symptoms of TB disease of the lungs also include couching, chest pain, and the coughing up of blood. Most people who are exposed to TB never develop symptoms because the bacteria can live in an inactive form in the body. But if the immune system weakens, such as in people with HIV or elderly adults, TB bacteria can become active. In their active state, TB bacteria cause death of tissue in the organs they infect. Active TB disease can be fatal if left untreated.

Because the bacteria that cause tuberculosis are transmitted through the air, the disease can be contagious. Infection is most likely to occur if you are exposed to someone with TB on a day-to-day basis, such as by living or working in close quarters with someone who has the active disease. Even then, because the bacteria generally stay latent (inactive) after they invade the body, only a small number of people infected with TB will ever have the active disease. The remaining will have what's called latent TB infection -- they show no signs of infection and won't be able to spread the disease to others, unless their disease becomes active. Because these latent infections can eventually become active, even people without symptoms should receive medical treatment as soon as possible. Invest in your health and get tested today.

LIPO / B12 INJECTIONS

LIPO / B12 Injections

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that is present naturally in meat, seafood and dairy foods and is added to products such as cereal and nutritional yeast. Older adults and people with certain conditions, however, may be unable to absorb dietary B12. Such individuals may be prescribed a vitamin B12 shot in order to prevent deficiency. Additionally, vitamin B12 injections are prescribed as energy boosters.

What is the role of Vitamin B12?

Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient for brain and heart function and overall health. It aids red blood cell formation and DNA synthesis. It also helps lower levels of the amino acid homocysteine; elevated homocysteine levels have been linked to conditions such as heart disease, osteoporosis, depression and dementia. In the short term, a vitamin B12 deficiency can cause fatigue, low blood pressure, muscle weakness and mental fogginess. In the long term, it could lead to mood disturbances, hallucinations, high homocysteine levels and symptoms that mimic Alzheimer's, such as memory loss and difficulty concentrating.

What are the benefits of B12 Injections?

Vitamin B12 injections are most commonly prescribed to prevent a deficiency or to treat a B12 deficiency in people with impaired ability to absorb nutrients. Injecting vitamin B12 allows the vitamin to be delivered directly to the bloodstream. Vitamin B12 injections are also prescribed for fatigue, depression and to boost cognitive functioning in the elderly. Experimentally, they have been used to treat conditions such as autism, Bell's palsy, bipolar disorder and shaky leg syndrome.

Lipo Plus B12 Injections

Lipotropic B12 injections contain amino acids, minerals, and vitamins – known as fat burning agents – that make the journey toward successful weight loss quite astounding. The four most important fat burning agents found in the injections are:

  • Choline – responsible for reducing fat in the liver and the gall bladder. It metabolizes the fats and sends them to the blood stream where they are used up by the body. This means that fat deposits in your body will decrease and their metabolism will be sped up.
  • Inositol – helps to regulate serotonin and insulin levels. This means that your mood will become more stable and feelings of hunger will be less noticeable. Insulin regulation is very important especially when it comes to growth hormones.
  • Methionine – is an amino acid and antioxidant. Helps the body to break down fat molecules. Vitamin B12 and B6– Better mood is stimulated by vitamin B12 and B6, and you will have more energy. These vitamins are also responsible for aiding in lipid metabolism. Additional vitamins included are: Vitamin B1, Vitamin2, Vitamin B3, and Vitamin B5.
  • L-Carnitine – helps the body produce energy. It is important for heart and brain function, muscle movement and many other body processes.

You will also be glad to know that lipotropic injections not only help you to lose weight, but they also help to minimize excess water gain, control estrogen levels, and maintain healthy nails and skin.

GLUTATHIONE INJECTIONS

Glutathione Injections

Glutathione (Gloo-ta-thigh-own) is a tripeptide synthesized from Glycine, Glutamic acid and Cysteine. A primary intracellular antioxidant, essential to life, Glutathione is useful in preventing radiation injury before treatment has started, and is an important chelator of lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic. Glutathione can prevent or reverse alcohol induced fatty liver, cirrhosis, hepatitis, and liver tumors and inhibits chemical induced carcinogenesis, improves prognosis of stroke victims and is useful in any condition where there is risk for oxidative damage.

  • It is your Body’s own Master Antioxidant
  • It is an Immune System Booster and Balancer
  • It enhances Detoxification
  • It regenerates mitochondria at the cellular level, giving you Energy
  • It has an Anti-Aging effect on your cells
  • Glutathione is a tripeptide, or protein, made up of three amino acids. Also known as “glutathione sulfhydryl”, and it may be abbreviated as GSH

Here are some of the key functions of this master antioxidant:

  • Whenever a cell is under severe oxidative stress, it is glutathione that comes to the rescue. Glutathione protects enzyme proteins that inhibit collagen-digesting enzymes that cause damage to the skin, leading to wrinkles, or in the area of acne lesions, leading to scars.
  • It's an important detoxifying agent, enabling the body to eliminate toxins and poisons providing protection against chemicals that promote cell transformation or cell death.
  • Glutathione regulates and regenerates our immune cells. People with chronic illnesses such as AIDS, cancer, and autoimmune diseases generally have very low levels of glutathione.

Glutathione is necessary for aspects of cellular function such as protein synthesis, amino acid transport, and assisting other antioxidants, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and CoQ10, in protecting the cell. Your supply of glutathione decreases as you get older, possibly because your body can’t create as much. Lower glutathione levels appear to go hand-in-hand with poorer health.

Stressors in our air, water, food, and overall environment contribute in depleting our glutathione. Lower levels of glutathione play a role in many conditions that are more likely to develop as we age.

Glutathione is often taken as an IV therapy to help protect from harmful effects of radiation and chemotherapy for cancer. To boost a weakened immune system or infertility.

*Avoid taking Glutathione is you are sensitive to it, are currently being treated for asthma, are allergic to sulfur, if you are pregnant or breast feeding.

IV VITAMIN THERAPY

IV Vitamin Therapy

Who can benefit from nutritional IV therapy?

Everybody can benefit from vitamin drips! Today, most people are under chronic stress, not getting enough sleep or adequate nutrition, and are feeling run-down, tired and in pain. Vitamin IV therapy is a great way to address any deficiencies in vitamins or minerals and reach optimal nutrient levels and hydration status. In acute cases, vitamin IV therapy is a great tool to treat migraines, headaches, colds, flus, seasonal allergies, morning sickness during pregnancy, fatigue and hangovers.

Give your body the vitamins it needs.

No matter how clean you eat, food today doesn’t have the same nutrient density that it once did. Therefore IV nutrition therapy can be a fantastic place to start to receive the missing nutrients. Furthermore, for nutrients to reach the blood, food has to be digested and absorbed efficiently.
